This litany is a meditation on the Cross. The phrases are taken from Scripture and the Church Fathers.

R. And let my cry come to Thee.
Oremus Let us pray
Respice, quaesumus, Domine, super hanc familiam tuam, pro qua Dominus noster Iesus Christus non dubitavit manibus tradi nocentium et crucis subire tormentum. Look down, we beseech thee, upon this Thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ hesitated not to be delivered up into the hands of wicked men and to undergo the torment of the cross.
Perpetua nos, quaesumus, Domine, pace custodi, quos per lignum sanctae Crucis redimere dignatus es. We beseech you, O Lord, to keep us in perpetual peace, whom you have deigned to redeem through the wood of the holy Cross.
Adesto nobis, Domine Deus noster, et quos sanctae Crucis laetari facis honore, eius quoque perpetuis defende subsidiis. Be with us, O Lord our God, and do Thou also, who makest us rejoice in honor of the holy Cross, defend us always by its protection.
Tueatur, quaesumus, Domine Deus, salutare signum Crucis populum deprecantem, et purificatum dignanter erudiat, ut et consolatione praesenti in omni sua tribulatione gaudeat, et sequendo, ad futura bona incessanter proficiat. May the saving sign of the cross protect Thy people, o Lord God, we pray, and, purified, instruct them worthily, so that they may rejoice in the present consolation and in all their tribulation, and by persevering, advance unceasingly to future good things.
Deus, qui nos continua sanctae Crucis commemoratione laetifica, praesta, quaesumus, ut cuius mysterium in terra cognovimus, eius redemptionis praemia in caelo mereamur. Per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum Filium tuum, qui tecum et vivit et regnat in unitate Spiritus Sancti, Deus, per omnia saecula saeculorum. Amen. O God, who makes us glad by the continual commemoration of the Holy Cross, grant, we beseech Thee, He whose mystery we have known on earth, we may merit in heaven the rewards of His redemption. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
