| OBSECRO te, Angelice spiritus, Custos ac Tutor meus fidelis, ut me custodiae ac protectioni tuae ex divina bonitate commissum, in via pacis, prosperitatis et salutis, hodie semperque dirigas; atque ab omni spiritu malo, gravique tentatione defendas. | I BESEECH THEE, Angelic spirit, my faithful Guardian and Protector, that thee, to whom I have been entrusted by divine goodness for thy care and protection, may guide me today and always upon the path of peace, prosperity, and salvation; and that thou mayest defend me from every evil spirit and grave temptation. |
| Nosti enim dulcissime Custos, quia conditus sum ad Dei ipsius nostri Creatoris imaginem; redemptus quoque pretio tam magno, id est, Christi sanguine, de potestate Satanae: Tibi vero Dei providentia in curam et tutelam traditus. Et quorsum haec omnia? nisi, ut non perderet hostis invidia, quem tanta circumdata Dei bonitas et clementia. | For thou knowest, most sweet Guardian, that I was created in the image of God, our very Creator; and redeemed as well by such a great price, that is, by the blood of Christ, from the power of Satan. By God’s providence, I have been entrusted to thy care and protection. And to what end is all this? It is so that the enemy’s envy may not destroy the one surrounded by such great goodness and mercy of God. |
| Adsiste tu ergo mihi fideli custodia, ne frustrentur in me tanta divinae bonitatis insignia. Rogo te carissime Angele, per amorem clementissimi Dei quo, caeteris Angelis reprobis de fastigio felicitatis suae per superbiam corruentibus, tu una cum bonis in gratia et gloria servatus es; Precor, inquam, ut et ego te favente et iuvante sentiam efficax Dei auxilium, quo server a lapsu et periculis, in gratia vero, bonisque operibus, et Dei creatoris mei cultu et amore constans permaneam; donec ad visionem eius in caelesti patria perveniam, eumque una tecum et Sanctis omnibus laudem per omnia secula. Amen. | Therefore, assist me with thy faithful protection, so that the great signs of divine goodness may not be frustrated in me. I ask thee, dearest Angel, by the love of the most merciful God, by which, when the other rebellious angels fell from the height of their happiness through pride, thou, along with the good angels, were preserved in grace and glory. I pray, I say, that with thy favor and help, I may experience the effective assistance of God, so that I may be preserved from falling and from dangers, and that I may remain steadfast in grace, in good works, and in the worship and love of my Creator; until I reach the vision of Him in the heavenly homeland, and with thee and all the Saints, may I praise Him through all ages. Amen. |
